Florida Motorcycle Accidents and How to Avoid Them

Obviously, Florida motorcycle accidents can be serious. They can lead to life altering injuries, and in some cases, even death.

Did you know that May is Motorcycle Awareness Month? It is the time of year to remind motorcycle riders and motorists to share the road safely.

Whether you are on a motorcycle or in a car, there are some precautionary steps that you can take to help keep you and your fellow Floridians safe.

First, understand that motorcycles require a full lane to operate in and should never share a lane with a car. Also, since bikes can be difficult to see, motorists should check their mirrors carefully before entering a lane.

Road conditions can also pose risks for motorcyclists. Drive with caution when approaching potholes, gravel and slippery road surfaces.

Lastly, whether you or in a car, truck or on a motorcycle, do not allow yourself to become distracted. The outcome can be catastrophic.

Unfortunately, no matter how safe you are, some Florida motorcycle crashes cannot be avoided. If you or someone you know has been injured in a motorcycle collision caused by another driver, you should contact an experienced St. Petersburg motorcycle accident attorney at our office at (727) 345-4566 or (866) 836-4947.
