Just when you thought it couldn’t get worse for Toyota…it has. Toyota recently suspended the sales of all 2010 Lexus GX 460’s following a recent article published by
Consumer Reports (CR).
The article cited that a GX 460 purchased by CR showed potential risks of rolling over during turns.
Consumer Reports tested the model on their handling course and discovered that when the GX was pushed to its limits, the electronic stability control system wasn’t able to regain control of the vehicle until the vehicle was almost sideways.
Toyota indicated in a statement that the company was taking the situation seriously and was determined to identify and correct the issues that CR cited.
“Our engineering teams are vigorously testing the GX using Consumer Reports’ specific parameters to identify how we can make the GX’s performance even better,” said Toyota.
The 2010 GX 460 eventually ended up being recalled by Toyota and the necessary software fix will be available to owners by the end of April.
If you are in the market to purchase a 2010 GX 460, which costs over $50,000, you should continue to research and determine if Toyota was able to successfully address the problem with the model. Your life could depend on it.
