

July 7, 2011 - Tampa, Fla. - One person is dead and another is in critical condition after a car crash in Tampa on Thursday, June 23.
ABC Action News reports that the crash happened at approximately 10:52 p.m. on Sheldon Road in Hillsborough County. Officials said that Adam Fiscus, 31, was travelling northbound on the roadway when he attempted to turn left into a private driveway.
At that time, a Nissan Altima driven by Evan Hamilton, 21, was driving southbound on the roadway. The Nissan crashed into the side of Fiscus's Mitsubishi Eclipse.
Fiscus was killed in the crash. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials said that Fiscus was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the incident.
Hamilton received critical injuries in the crash. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
The accident is under ongoing investigation. Deputies of the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Department are investigating.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 Florida Crash Statistics, there were 2,558 fatalities as a result of car accidents in Florida.
