2 Seriously Injured in Red Light Crash on 22nd Avenue South

March 31, 2011 - St. Petersburg, FL - A driver and her 4-year-old passenger were hospitalized when they were struck by a dump truck after running a red light.

ABC Action News reports the incident took place on the morning of March 24^th at the intersection of 22^nd Avenue South and 22^nd Street. The initial police reports state that an unidentified woman was driving a Volvo carrying a man and a 4-year old child in a safety seat. The female driver ran the red light and was struck by a dump truck traveling south on 22^nd Street.

The truck struck the Volvo on the left side, causing enough damage to send the driver to Bayfront Medical Center under a trauma alert. The 4-year-old girl in her car was taken to All Children's Hospital in stable condition thanks to her car safety seat. Neither the male passenger in the Volvo nor the truck driver was injured.

No charges have been announced, as the car accident is being investigated by St. Petersburg Police.
