

April 25, 2011 - St. Petersburg, Fla. - According to a report from Bay News 9, a 2-car crash in St. Petersburg resulted in the death of a 77-year-old woman.
Mary Jo Boyne, 77, was killed on the morning of Monday, April 11, when she was driving down 66th Street North in her 2004 Volvo, getting ready to make a left-hand turn on 18th Avenue North.
Thomas Hull Jr., 22, was approaching the intersection of 18th Avenue North, coming south on 66th Street when his 1985 Chevy collided with Boyne's vehicle. Boyne turned left directly into Hull's path.
The front end of Hull's car struck the right side of Boyne's vehicle, with the impact causing her car to then crash into a pole on the intersection's southwest corner.
Boyne was pronounced dead at the scene of the car accident and Hull was taken to Bayfront Medical Center, suffering only minor injuries. No charges are expected to be filed in this fatal car accident.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2008 Florida Crash Statistics, there were 2,978 fatalities as a result of car accidents in Florida.
