Boating Accident Kills St. Petersburg Teen

Friday evening, October 2nd, 2009 a St. Petersburg High School student was killed in a boating accident.  The incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. when the boat she was riding in struck the concrete jetty which extends into the harbor from near the end of the runway at Albert Whitted Airport.  Paige Alyssa Davison, age 17 died, and 4 other teenagers on the boat were all injured and taken to area hospitals.  The boat, which was heavily damaged entered the Bayboro Harbor at a high rate of speed following an evening shark fishing trip.  A 911 call was made from the boat around 11:24 p.m., and one of the teenagers attempted CPR, but Ms. Davison was pronounced dead shortly thereafter due to unsurvivable trauma.  Alcohol may have been involved.
