Clearwater Car Accident Involving Two Cars Leaves Five People Injured

A Clearwater car accident involving two cars leaves five people injured after the vehicles collide. The incident took place at approximately 12:30 PM on Tuesday afternoon, March 30, 2010, on Gulf-to-Bay Boulevard.

According to Clearwater public safety spokesperson Elizabeth Watts, the incident took place when a 1992 Buick Century traveling eastbound on Gulf-to-Bay Boulevard made a left turn onto Lake Avenue and into the path of a 1995 Nissan. The Nissan was traveling westbound on Gulf-to-Bay Boulevard. Five people in the Buick were injured in the crash including three children.

The force of the impact threw a 2-year-old boy out of the car. Rescue crews transported the child along with an 8-year-old boy to Bayfront Medical Center where he was listed in critical condition from injuries sustained in the accident. The 2-year-old child’s injuries were not considered to be life-threatening.

Their 7-year-old brother and grandmother, Doris Green, 60, were also transported to Bayfront Medical Center. Their injuries were also considered not to be life-threatening.

According to police, the victim’s mother, 26-year-old Dawn W. Powell, refused medical treatment at the scene.

The driver of the Nissan has been identified as Pasquale Joseph DeCunto IV, 22, of Pinellas Park. He was transported to Morton Plant Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The Clearwater auto accident is still under investigation by local authorities.
