Clearwater Motorcycle Accident Involves School Bus

Posted on May 25, 2010

A Clearwater motorcycle accident involving a school bus leaves at least one person seriously injured. The incident took place at approximately 9:00 AM on Wednesday morning, May 12, 2010, at the intersection of Drew Street and N. Highland Avenue.

According to public safety spokesperson Beth Watts, the school bus was westbound on Drew Street when the incident occurred. Reports indicate that the bus was attempting to make a left turn onto Highland Avenue when it collided with a motorcycle traveling eastbound on Drew Street.

Fortunately, there were no children on the school bus at the time of the two-vehicle wreck. It was unclear as to whether the bus driver sustained any injuries. The bus driver’s identity was not made known.

Rescue crews transported the motorcyclist via helicopter to a local hospital. The 27-year-old victim was treated for serious injuries sustained in the crash. The motorcyclist’s name was not immediately made known.

The Clearwater motorcycle crash is still under investigation by local authorities. It was unclear as to what caused the collision or who may have been at fault.

Motorcycle accidents can be serious. Our thoughts go out to the victim and we wish the motorcyclist a speedy recovery during this difficult time.
