Fatal Accident on Gandy Blvd in Pinellas Park

January 19, 2012 – Pinellas Park, Fla. – According to a report from Bay News 9, a fatal accident occurred on Gandy Boulevard during the afternoon on Wednesday, January 11.

Helen Sauerbier, 84, was killed after her 1996 Lincoln Town Car went into the path of a 2007 Nissan Murano. The driver of the Nissan, William McClendon, 44, was reported to have sustained injuries.

Sauerbier was attempting to make a left-hand turn onto 35^th Street when she struck McClendon. Charges against McClendon are pending, as alcohol appears to be a factor in the crash and he was also driving with a suspended license.
