September 15, 2011 - Hillsborough County, Fla. - According to a report from Bay News 9, a head-on crash with a tractor trailer killed 2 people in Hillsborough County early Monday morning, Sept. 5.
The fatal head on crash occurred on U.S. Highway 301 in Thonotosassa. A 1996 Dodge Sedan was heading south when it crossed over into the northbound lanes and collided with a Sweetbay grocery tractor trailer.
It is not clear if the driver of the truck was injured. However the Sedan's driver, Justin D. Crum, 26, of Tampa and an unidentified 24-year-old female passenger from Jacksonville were killed.
The truck driver was able to tell police that the other vehicle didn't have headlights on and was unable to stop the accident from happening. Tests will determine if this is true and the investigation is ongoing.
