Hit and Run Driver Kills 74-Year-Old Man in St. Petersburg

August 15, 2011 - St. Petersburg, Fla - According to a report from Bay News 9, a 74-year-old man died in the hospital following a hit and run accident.

The accident occurred on Monday morning, Aug 1, at the intersection of 16^th Street S and First Avenue S.

Lorenzo Lynch, 19, went through a red light in his Mitsubishi and struck a Pontiac, which was being driven by Michael Cerone, 74. Cerone's car hit a metal sign post and he was ejected from the vehicle. Lynch's vehicle hit a concrete pillar and a palm tree, but he fled from the scene of the accident. Police are still searching for him.

Cerone was taken to a hospital but died 2 days later from his injuries.
