Largo Man Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver

August 11, 2010 - Largo, FL - An unidentified victim was listed in critical condition August 11^th after being struck by a vehicle late Tuesday night.

The St. Petersburg Times reports that Largo police are searching for a vehicle with severe front-end and windshield damage in connection with the hit-and-run accident which took place around 9:30 PM Tuesday evening. The accident occurred around the 12900 block of Seminole Boulevard.

The victim, whose identity was not released, was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries including multiple broken bones. The 54-year-old man was listed in critical condition early Wednesday morning.

Largo police are asking anyone with information about the accident or the vehicle and driver responsible to call Largo Police Department at 727-587-6730.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2008 Florida Crash Statistics, there were 2,978 fatalities as a result of car accidents in Florida.
