December 22, 2011 – Palm Harbor, Fla. – According to The St. Petersburg Times, workers had been working on the intersection of US 19 and Tampa Road when a man driving a 2007 Subaru Impreza barreled through the barricades, around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday, December 18, resulting in a worker being hospitalized.
Eye witnesses report that the man tried to brake and steer out of the way of the men once he realized what was happening, but it was too late. The injured worker was transported to Bayfront Medical Center with critical injuries. No other workers were injured in the collision.
Police report that an investigation of what caused the crash is still underway and that the driver hasn’t yet been charged with any wrongdoing or traffic citations.
