Second Pedestrian Fatality on Drew Street in Pinellas Park this Month

January 19, 2012 – Pinellas Park, Fla. – According to a report from Bay News 9, Drew Street was the location of a second pedestrian fatality in just a single month.

The first pedestrian fatality occurred on Wednesday, Jan. 4. Maria E. Aquedelo de Rondon, of California, was struck by a Ford pickup truck. The driver, Robert Osborne, 55, of Clearwater, hit the pedestrian at about 1:55 p.m. She died the following night from her injuries.

The latest incident occurred on Monday, Jan. 9, when Johnny Mathney, of Clearwater, was crossing Drew Street and was struck by a fire department vehicle at about 6:15 p.m. The fire truck’s lights and siren were active at the time, according to witnesses.

Officials suspect that alcohol was a factor.
