Seminole Accident Injures Bicyclist

A Seminole accident involving a bicycle and a car ends with a cyclist hospitalized with serious injuries. The bicycle accident took place at approximately 4:00 PM on Wednesday afternoon, November 25, 2009 on Park Boulevard near 90th Street.

According to authorities, Paul David Lynn, 65, of Clearwater, was riding his bike eastbound on the sidewalk along Park Boulevard. He was approaching 90th Street when he reportedly collided with a 1999 Buick, which was being driven by David Gentner, 64, of St. Petersburg.

Officials say that Gentner was traveling southbound on 90th Street and had pulled up to the stop sign. As he proceeded onto Park Boulevard, Lynn allegedly rode off the sidewalk and slammed into the passenger side of the Buick. Reports indicate that Lynn was ejected off the bike and hit his head on the ground, seriously inuring him.

Rescue workers transported Lynn to Bayfront Medical Center to be treated for injuries sustained in the accident. His injuries have been described as life-threatening.

It was unclear as to whether Gentner suffered any injuries in the accident.

The Seminole accident is still under investigation by local authorities. According to preliminary reports, it was unclear whether Lynn was wearing a helmet at the time of the incident.
