

September 13, 2010 - St. Petersburg, FL - Police are searching for the vehicle involved in a hit and run accident on September 13 that put a St. Petersburg bicyclist in the hospital.
Reports from WTSP10 News say the cyclist was in critical condition with life-threatening injuries after being struck at the intersection of 4th Street and 73rd Avenue North. The driver struck the cyclist and then fled the scene, and police are searching for the vehicle and driver.
The vehicle was described as a white or light colored sedan, most likely a Ford Taurus or Mercury Sable. It might be a 4-door, mid-90s style with dark tinted windows. The vehicle will most likely have damage to the right front fender and hood, as the cyclist was struck from behind.
According to the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles' 2009 Traffic Crash Statistics Report, there were 197,214 traffic crashes resulting in injury and 2,563 fatalities as a result of vehicle accidents in Florida.
