A Tampa auto accident involving a single-car leaves one person dead and two others injured after the vehicle loses control and drives off of the road. The incident took place early Thursday morning, February 18, 2010.
According to the Tampa Police Department, a 2005 Nissan Altima was traveling down the road at excessive speeds and suffered damage to one of its tires after it made an attempt to avoid a second car. The driver lost control of the vehicle and left the roadway. The car flipped over and finally came to rest after it struck a utility pole, bench and a tree.
There were three unidentified occupants in the car at the time of the accident. Two of them were ejected from the vehicle as the car flipped over.
Unfortunately, one of the victims was pronounced dead at the scene from injuries sustained in the accident. Rescue transported the two other victims to a local hospital. One of them had to be removed from the vehicle with the use of special equipment and has been listed in critical condition. A female passenger has been listed in stable condition. The investigation is still ongoing.
This is a terrible accident and we send our deepest sympathies to the families of the victims.
