Tampa Car Accident Leaves State Trooper Injured

Posted on Mar 19, 2010

A Tampa car accident leaves a state trooper injured after his police cruiser is rear-ended by another vehicle unable to slow down in time. The incident took place at approximately 8:30 AM on Tuesday morning, March 16, 2010, along Interstate 275.

According to the Florida High Patrol, the accident occurred in the outside lane of northbound Interstate 275 near Busch Boulevard where Trooper Daniel Villano was stopped due to heavy traffic. That is when a Ford van, unable to slow down, rear-ended the police cruiser with Villano inside.

Rescue crews transported Villano to University Community Hospital where he was treated for injuries sustained in the early morning accident. Details concerning his injuries were not made known; however, his injuries were described as minor.

It was unclear as to whether the unidentified driver of the van was injured in the wreck. However, he was not taken to the hospital.

The Tampa car accident is still under investigation by local authorities. It was not made known as to why the driver of the van was not able to slow down in time, causing the two-vehicle crash.

This is an unfortunate accident that sent Trooper Villano to the hospital. We wish him a speedy recovery.
