Tarpon Springs Auto Accident Sends 3 to the Hospital

A Tarpon Springs car accident involving two vehicles sends three people to local hospitals. The incident took place at approximately 8:30 AM on Sunday morning, April 11, 2010, along U.S. 19.

According to the Tarpon Springs Police Department, a 1995 green Saturn and a GMC truck were traveling southbound on U.S. 19 when the incident occurred. According to reports, the Saturn struck the GMC as the vehicles passed Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. The impact caused both drivers to lose control of their vehicles and slam into a light pole resulting in one car landing on top of the other.

The driver of the Saturn has been identified as Bradley Hariford, 18, of Palm Harbor. Rescue crews transported him by air to Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg. His condition was not made known.

The driver of the GMC, Jesse Fugate, 31, of Largo, was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tampa where he was treated and released by hospital officials. A third victim was traveling with Fugate when the incident occurred. The unidentified passenger was taken to Helen Ellis Memorial Hospital in Tarpon Springs. His condition is unknown.

The Tarpon Springs auto accident is still under investigation by local authorities. According to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, the Saturn was reported stolen.
