Tarpon Springs Student Injured When Jeep Hits School Bus

Posted on Jan 29, 2011

January 25, 2011 - Tarpon Springs, FL - One student was taken to the hospital after a school bus crash occurred in the early morning hours of January 13.

ABC Action News Tampa reports that the incident occurred around 6:30 a.m. as the bus, en-route to East Lake High School, was traveling on U.S. Alternate 19 near Wood Dove Avenue. The bus, carrying 7 students, was rear ended by a red Jeep.

One student was taken to a local hospital for observation with minor injuries while the remaining 6 students were transferred to another school bus. The driver of the Jeep was cited and the accident scene was cleared by 8:10 a.m.

When your child rides a school bus you are putting their safety in the hands of the bus driver and the other drivers on the road. Negligence from any of these parties in their duty to keep your child safe can result in serious accidents and injuries.

If your child is injured while on a school bus, there are many factors to consider such as who was at fault for the accident and what circumstances led to your child's injury. An experienced St. Petersburg car accident attorney can help you investigate the circumstances of the accident and find the right parties to hold liable for your child's medical expenses and suffering.

According to the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles' 2009 Traffic Crash Statistics Report, there were 197,214 traffic crashes resulting in injury and 2,563 fatalities as a result of vehicle accidents in Florida.

As a service to the residents of St. Petersburg, our firm will frequently publish blogs about local traffic accidents. We do this to raise awareness about the common types of motor vehicle accidents that occur in Florida that may result in serious injury or traffic fatalities.
